Sediment Testing
The sediment at the bottom of lakes can heavily affect the lake’s water quality. Nutrients that are trapped in the sediment are released into the lake water under anoxic conditions so high nutrients concentrations in the sediment often lead to high nutrient concentrations in the lake water.
Sediment testing, which involves collecting a sample of sediment from the lake bottom, is conducted to determine the presence and quantities of specific nutrients trapped in the sediment.
