10 “Laws” of Lake Management

The 10 “Laws” of Lake Management

  1. Lakes are not free (generally the bigger the lake, the more money they cost).
  2. There are no pristine lakes.
  3. In most cases, humans are the cause of the problem.
  4. Letting mother nature do her thing is not the answer (humans have already impacted lakes in extreme and irreversible ways).
  5. There is no balance of nature (only stable conditions).
  6. You get what you pay for.
  7. Know your lake (monitor, monitor, monitor).
  8. Know you problem.
  9. Get professional assistance.
  10. Somebody has to be responsible!
